Cape Chignecto Extreme Adventure
June 7-10 2024
Join us for our most Eastern Extreme Adventure in Nova Scotia's beautiful Cape Chignecto! Just two hours south of Moncton NB and three hours north of Halifax, Cape Chignecto is home to one of North America’s 7 Natural Wonders- the Bay of Fundy. This multi-day trek will have us hiking and backcountry camping along the 52-km coastal trail loop.
Not only is this one of Nova Scotia’s most spectacular adventures, but it is one of ICD’s most diverse adventures! Along the trail, you will experience towering sea cliffs, the world’s highest tides, pristine coastline, deep valleys, sheltered coves, rare plants, and remnant old-growth forests.
This backcountry camping adventure unites adventurous type 1s as they step outside of their comfort zones, guided by an experienced leadership team of folks also living with T1D. This program is supported by T1D mentors who have hiked many trails across Canada each year with ICD and will help teach you how to pack your bags, set up camp safely, and cook amazing meals in the woods. Our team is fully prepared to help with diabetes management during this adventure: carbs, sites, troubleshooting, etc. Diabetes management is completely supported and gets easier with each step taken down the trail.
Who: This trip is open to strong teens and adults with T1D who are physically fit, and can carry 30% of their body weight in a pack on their back. If you are willing to work hard and endure some physical difficulties to enjoy some amazing rewards, this trip is for you. There will be separate sleeping accommodation based on gender of participants, please let us know if you have any concerns with us being able to aptly accommodate your needs.
Where: Cape Chignecto Provincial Park, NS
