This is backpacking in the Canadian Rockies at its best!
The Point Backcountry Campground in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park is perfect for families and first-time backpackers, with 4 days and 3 nights of epic adventure, no matter your skill level. This is an amazing opportunity to learn about yourself, your family, and meet others dealing with similar challenges, in a fun, new environment.
Open to families and individuals living with T1D who love the outdoors and want a back country experience with our community. We love helping teach new skills, make new friends, and keep a safe/fun campsite:
Day 1 - Hike in 3.4km (approximately 1.5 hours), set up tents and have some amazing food and fun with an incredible view camping right on the lake! The hike is reasonably flat for the area and we’ll share gear appropriately.
Day 2 &3 - We’ll have options from hanging at the lake, swimming, camp games, more great food and an optional day hike to a waterfall (no packs except snacks)
Day 4 - We’ll be packing up camp and enjoying another scenic hike on the way back out (same distance as day 1)
If you aren’t sure if this is appropriate for your family, we’d be happy to discuss!
